Description: February 8-10, 2013
In celebration of Valentine’s Day, we’re sinking our teeth into the delicious world of sugar. Join us throughout the weekend and taste for yourself just how sweet it is.

Activities include:

Are you a Super Taster?
Some people have a heightened sense of taste, making things incredibly bitter, sweet or even salty. Put your taste buds to the test and see if you are one of them.
Giant Peeps
The fun sugar coated marshmallow candy that we all know and love will be super-sized with the help of a bell jar and a vacuum. Watch them puff up huge and then see what happens when the jar is lifted.

Acidic Candy
Have you ever wondered what adds the sour or tangy taste to some candies? Believe it or not, those tastes come from natural acids that, when added to candy, manipulate the flavor and makes your mouth pucker. This activity explores those natural acids and gives you an up close look at how they work.

Marshmallow Geodomes
Building is always fun, but building with candy is delicious too! This activity urges you to use the engineering design process (Think It, Build It, Test It and Do It Again!) to build a strong, supported structure using mini-marshmallows as key structural components.
