2014 Blade Holiday Parade
When:
November 15, 2014, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Venue: Downtown Toledo
Address: 541 N. Superior

Description: The 27th Annual Blade Holiday Parade, presented by Taylor Automotive Family, will step off at 10 a.m. in downtown Toledo on Saturday, November 15. With more than 20,000 spectators and nearly 100 participating organizations, this is one of the largest holiday parades in the Midwest.

The Grand Marshal for this year’s parade is Zuri Hall, a Toledo native who is a host on MTV. A graduate of Maumee Valley Country Day School and The Ohio State University, she won an Emmy for Outstanding Host – Talent in 2012. She is one of the official emcees for the NBA’s Indiana Pacers, the Minor League Indianapolis Indians, and the WNBA’s Indiana Fever. She has appeared on Fashion Police with Joan Rivers and with Nick Lachey on VH1.

“Being named Grand Marshal for this year's Holiday Parade is an unbelievable honor,” Miss Hall says. “I still remember cheering for candy with my Papa, brothers and cousins when I was a kid. I've always been proud to call Toledo my home, and I try to say it on-air every chance I get.

“The Blade is a cornerstone of the city I love, so to be acknowledged in this way is really special for me and my family.”

Of course, the star of the parade is Santa himself, who will arrive on a special float pulled by nine reindeer. After the parade, Santa will visit with good little boys and girls at the Imagination Station to hear their Christmas wishes and for photos.

Also appearing in the parade as Honorary Elves will be Myles Eckert and Alex Lazaney Molina.
Earlier this year, Myles found a $20 bill in a Cracker Barrel parking lot. He planned to use it to buy a video game when he saw a soldier in uniform dining with his family. Myles, whose father died in Iraq in 2005, gave the $20 to the soldier and thanked him for his service. That one unselfish act has prompted a Texas firm to donate up to $1 million to Snowball Express, a nonprofit that helps children who have lost a parent in active duty.

Alex is the son of Sergeant Carlos Lazaney-Rodriguez, who was killed at Fort Hood in Texas when a gunman went on a shooting rampage. Three people were killed and sixteen others were wounded this past April.

Other highlights of The Blade Holiday Parade presented by Taylor Automotive Family include 10 high school marching bands and the University of Toledo Marching Band, nearly 100 members of the Distinguished Clown Corps, four giant helium balloons, Zenobia Shrine groups, dance groups, and more.

Taylor Automotive Family has presented the Holiday Parade for a number of years. The company wants children to have an opportunity to see Santa Claus and have photos taken for free.

The Blade Holiday Parade presented by Taylor Automotive Family will be hosted once again by WTVG-13 news anchors Diane Larson and Lee Conklin. The parade will be broadcast at noon on Thanksgiving Day and at 2 p.m. on Friday, November 29, on Buckeye CableSystem Community Channel 69.
