Description: Join the American Heart Association and our 2015 Ambassador, Reece Bova and his family for the annual 5K Heart Walk and Heart Run. Walking is a free and easy way to get started on the path to wellness. You’ll be walking with nearly 6,000 of your friends and neighbors in downtown Toledo and raising funds to fight heart disease and stroke, the no. 1 and no. 5 killers of all Americans. Registration for the Heart Walk is free and there is a $30 fee for the timed 5K Heart Run. The event also features a health and wellness fair during which you can learn more about improving your heart health. The family friendly event also features a kids zone area and entertainment. Description: “The Toledo Kennel Club will hold it’s All-Breed dog show and Obedience Trials on Saturday and Sunday, May 30 and 31, at the Lucas County Recreation Center on Key Street in Maumee. This is an American Kennel Club approved event.

At shows, dogs are judges against their individual breed’s standards. Over the course of the day, the entrants are narrowed down to a single dog – Best in Show. Additionally, many breeds will be represented in the Obedience competitions, where they are judged on their training: their ability to heal on and off lead, stand for examination, come when called, sit or lie down on command and at the higher test levels, jumping, retrieving and obeying non-verbal commands.

New for this year is that mixed breed dogs can compete in the obedience competitions.

In the Junior Showmanship competition, youngsters aged 10 – 18 will exhibit their own dogs as they compete for prizes by displaying their skills in handling dogs.

Description: Genoa Homecoming is held every year in Genoa, Ohio. The goal of the Genoa Homecoming is to provide wholesome family entertainment, encourage togetherness, patriotism, and good old fashioned fun. This year’s theme is “Honoring Our Veterans.” Homecoming will begin Friday, May 29 with an exciting parade, which will include high school bands, floats and area organizations. While the amusement rides are running there will be refreshments and live music under the beer tent.
Saturday’s activities will additionally include a 5K run, ceremony honoring our veterans, garden tractor pull, amusement rides, wine tasting, a car show, and live music by Bob Gatewood and Calabash. Specialty foods will be available from vendors, local restaurants and organizations throughout the day and evening.

Due to the prediction of thunderstorms for Saturday, planned fireworks after dark will be postponed until Sunday, at Dusk. In addition to Sunday’s fireworks display, we will also have the amusement rides running and our food vendors open.
