Description: On Thursday, May 8, parents, community members and children with special needs will applaud the efforts of over 40 Jewish teens who volunteered their time and friendship to spend with children with special needs throughout the year in the Friendship Circle.

For the event, which has been partially funded by the Savage Foundation, Friendship Circle is pleased to welcome Guest Speaker Daniel Tratt who will share his story of overcoming adversity with the greater Toledo community.

While a Junior in college, Daniel suffered a traumatic brain Injury that left him paralyzed from the waist down. After rehabilitation he obtained his Master’s degree in Education. Currently he is a Special Education Teacher in the Bronx, heads the Greater New York Chapter of the National Spinal Cord Injury Association, offers dynamic motivational speeches in cities nationwide, and is an award-winning triathlon and marathon athlete.

“We are really excited to have Daniel coming to Toledo,” says Friendship Circle Director, Mushka Matusof. “Although his strength in the face of adversity applies most directly to our children with special needs, I don’t know anyone who will not walk away deeply inspired.”

The evening, which is open to the public, includes a light dinner, words from parents and teens, the Fifth Annual Award Ceremony and the Guest Speaker. Tickets are $18 per person; Volunteers are guests of honor.

Friendship Circle is a partnership between Chabad House of Toledo and the Jewish Federation of Greater Toledo.
