Description: On October 25th, at the Carranor Hunt and Polo Club in Perrysburg, Ohio, Sal’s Pals will proudly present the Seventh Annual Uncork A Cure to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The evening will be a relaxed, yet lively event for 300 expected guests. We are hoping that with your support we will add to the more than $800,000 we have raised in the past ten years.

We are currently looking for auction items, wine samples and event sponsors to help make our event a success.

As members of an extended family in Toledo, Ohio we continue to give back to a charity that has given support to a young member of our family, Sal Pinardo. Sal is an eleven-year-old boy who was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis just days after he was born. Cystic fibrosis is a life-threatening genetic disease that affects more than 30,000 children and young adults in the United States, including over 150 families in the Toledo area. CF causes chronic lung infections and impairs digestion. Currently there is no cure, each day we continue to lose at least one precious life to CF.

In order to help find a cure for CF, a special group of family and friends came up with the idea of Sal’s Pals. Our first ten years were a bigger success than we could have ever imagined. For each of those years Sal’s Pals has been named NUMBER ONE in the Detroit/Toledo Metro Areas in fundraising dollars. In 2014 our organization has great hope that we will have met the 1 million dollar mark for funds raised! We need the continued support of our community to make this happen and have great hope that you will join us in helping make CF stand for CURE FOUND.

The money raised will help assure that the foundation has the opportunity for development of the means to cure and control CF and to improve the quality of life for people living with Cystic Fibrosis. It was just last year, the Food and Drug Administration issued the announcement,“FDA approved Kalydeco to treat rare form of cystic fibrosis.” While Sal does not have the type of defective gene that Kalydeco is targeting, we remain hopeful and this August Sal hopes to begin a clinical trial for a new drug designed that will treat the cause, rather than the symptoms, of cystic fibrosis, it is a medication that is showing breathtaking results in clinical trials. For Sal and other CF patients this means that for the first time in history, scientific opportunities are coming at a pace that is exceeding the CF Foundation’s ability to fund them. CF patient’s lives depend on these opportunities and until we are able to conquer this disease, we will work tirelessly to help raise funds so that we may help add tomorrows every day to those with this devastating disease.
