Description: Robin Meyers is a nationally known United Church of Christ pastor, professor, peace activist and the author of six books about progressive Christianity and American society. He has been the senior minister of Mayflower Congregational United Church of Christ in Oklahoma City since 1985.

His Saturday lecture "Quantum Physics and the Future of God" ($15 ticket) will be from 4-5:30 p.m. including 30 minutes of Q&A. The Sunday lecture "The Underground Church: Reclaiming the Subversive Way of Jesus" (free) will be at 9:20 a.m. He will preach 2 different sermons on Sunday morning: 8:30 - Raising a Paralyzed Church and 10:40 - Original Blessing. All are welcome to worship with us. Childcare available both days.

We will meet at 9:45 a.m., Sunday September 21st, at Tim Horton's located at 5800 W. Alexis out near Dave White Chevrolet in Sylvania. Our plan is to leave around 10am to head up to Hell (Michigan)--northwest of Ann Arbor. After a short visit, pictures, & shopping at "Hell in a handbasket", we will make our way up to Howell, which is about 20 miles north to have lunch at Tomato Brothers Restaurant. The Northwest Ohio RV Dealers present their Free Fall RV Show, September 19-21, at The Shops at Fallen Timbers in Maumee. This is the area’s largest outdoor Fall RV Show featuring over 100 RVs from local Northwest Ohio RV Dealers.

This huge RV display will feature motor homes, travel trailers, fifth wheels, fold down campers and more. See what’s new for 2015 including everything from the new Teardrop Trailer weighing only 875 lbs. to the Ellipse Ultra Motor home by Itasca, one of the most luxurious coaches made. You’ll see many RVs that have all the comforts of home on the road such as: outside bars and grills for tailgates and parties, real fireplaces, HD flat screen TV’s, ultra-modern kitchens, slide-outs that open up floor space, built in garages for hauling ATV’s, motorcycles, etc. and even fold-out patio decks for relaxing.

Show hours are Friday and Saturday, 10am – 7pm and Sunday, 10am – 5 pm. The Shops at Fallen Timbers is located in Maumee just off Rt. 24, 1 1/2 miles west of US23/475. Take Exit 4 toward Napoleon.

Fossil Fest

Description: Sylvania Historic Village is holding its annual Fossil Fest on Sunday, Sept 21st. Truckloads of newly dug shale filled with fossils are donated by Hanson Aggregates Midwest and will be mounded in the parking lot ready to search through. This free family event takes place from 11a.m. to 4p.m.

Washing stations are set up around the mound to clean the fossil finds. Local geologists will be on hand to help with fossil identification and answer questions.

The Toledo Gem and Rockhound Club, along with the University of Toledo Environmental Sciences department will have members on hand with displays and demonstrations. The Imagination Station will also provide activities during the Fest.

A Dino-Egg Hunt area for children 5 and under will be set up in the Sister City Garden from 11:30 to 1:00. The annual Dino-Fun Run for 6-10 year olds will take place at 12:15. Boys and girls can register for the race at the event. A game area is set up with carnival type games for small children. Game tickets are three for one dollar.

While visiting Fossil Fest families are also welcome to tour the Village buildings which include a log cabin, one room school and Ohio’s oldest existing train depot. The Heritage Museum will also be open.

Fossil Fest sponsors are the City of Sylvania, Hanson Aggregates, ProMedica, Sylvania Advantage, City Paper, Toledo Memorial Park, Reeb Funeral Home, Sylvania Area Federal Credit Union and Kingston of Sylvania.
