The workshops offered by the Canton, Ohio-based company will be held Friday, April 24 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday, April 25 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the University of Toledo. The workshops will be held in the Student Union, Room 2561, located at 2801 W. Bancroft St. in Toledo. The workshop is free, but space is limited. Description: Sonia Perez, soprano, will perform an evening of music “A Journey of the Heart” on Friday, April 24 at 7:00pm. She will be accompanied at the piano by her husband and collaborator, Omaldo Perez. The program will feature music by Poulenc, Schumann, Scarlatti, Rachmaninoff, Ravel and others. The concert will be held at Zoar Lutheran Church, on the corner of Sandusky and Indiana Avenues, Perrysburg.

The couple has performed together in numerous concerts spanning the genres of musical theatre, opera, art song and jazz. Ms. Perez is a New York native and has performed throughout New York City as a soloist, most notably, in Weill Recital Hall, Symphony Space, The Brooklyn Museum and American Airlines Theatre. She has also performed as a soloist with the Seattle Symphony Orchestra, Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra and Seattle Youth Symphony Orchestra.
In December, she had the pleasure of performing the role of the Mother in Amahl and the Night Visitors with the Perrysburg Symphony at Zoar. She premiered the leading roles of Heron, Raven and Eagle in the operatic trilogy Our Earth with Seattle Opera. She has also performed in national tours of Carmen and H.M.S. Pinafore and internationally in Phantom of the Opera. Most recently, Sonia performed with Musicals Tonight in the off-Broadway revival of Jule Styne’s Hazel Flagg, a vintage comedy musical based on a 1953 story written by James Street.

The concert is free to the public, with a reception following in the Family Life Center.

SANDUSKY, OH –The Sandusky State Theatre is pleased to presents the Singer/Songwriter Lounge featuring the Davenport Twins with headliner Emily Keener and artwork displayed by a variety of artist on Friday, April 24, 2015 at 8:00pm in the State Room.

The Sandusky State Theatre was met with great enthusiasm in February with the new Singer/Songwriter Series. Guest of the show loved the atmosphere filled with music, coffee, and friends. Along with the artwork and couches you felt as if you were relaxing at a coffee house enjoying some of your favorite music. Producers Organized Chaos Music with Dan Hoke is pleased to present Emily Keener and the Davenport Twins on April 24th.

Featured musicians: The Davenport Twins Nick and Alex Davenport are a set of eighteen year old identical twin brothers from Clyde, Ohio. They Graduated from Clyde Senior High School in 2014.They have always had an interest in Music and in 2007 decided to start a band with some friends the band Sakred Groundz while in the band they toured all over the state of Ohio. They decided to branch off from the band and start working on their own music individually in 2014. The two of them have played at the Ritz Theater in Tiffin Ohio as well as the Agora Theater in Cleveland Ohio. Together the two have them have written nearly 20 original songs. Nick's Song "Carry On" was written to raise awareness about the Clyde Cancer Cluster. They hope to pursue a career in the music industry.

Headliner: Emily Keener is a sixteen-year-old singer/songwriter (from Cleveland, OH) with a thing for Paul Simon and VW Buses. She’s often been called a young girl with an old soul, and likes nothing better than to write and share her words. She plays her dad’s old acoustic guitar with a folksy groove, and can fill a room with her unique style. Her shows include her original songs, with some choice covers here and there. Her natural stage presence showcases her beautiful melodies and ever-growing vocal talent. Emily started playing the guitar when she was 11 years old and began writing songs when she was almost 12. After writing for 4 years, she has over 100 original songs and has released two EPs and one LP in addition to the one that’s currently in the works.

The Singer/Songwriter Lounge is driven to reach out to local and regional artist to showcase their music or display their artwork. It strives to create a nice relaxed atmosphere filled with displayed artwork and music in the coffee house type setting. The Singer/Songwriter is a place where friends and music come together.

Coffee will be provided by Mr. Smith’s Coffee House locally owned and operated by Trent and Sara Beard located in beautiful downtown at 104 Columbus Ave, Sandusky, Ohio.

Couches provided by Goodwill Industries of Erie, Huron, Ottawa and Sandusky Counties. When you donate to Goodwill, you are giving local residents the life-changing opportunity to achieve independence through the power of a paycheck.

Description: TSA's annual Guitarfest returns with guest artists, vendors, masterclasses, and performances. With lots of activities and jams to choose from, and terrific local and national artists to hear and learn from, Guitarfest has something for players of all levels.

Want more? There will also be a session on recording, a vendor’s hall, and raffle including a custom made Larry Wagner Guitar. Lunch will be available for purchase.

Guest presenters include:

Rick Zeithaml | Rock Specialist: Rick currently plays guitar and provides vocals for Frijid Pink, a hard rock band out of Detroit, Michigan. He also plays locally with the NuTones and RuKus. Using his knowledge gained from years of experience, Rick will help you fine-tune your skills and take you to another level of rock.

Aayan Naim | Blues Jam: Aayan’s Band, The Good, The Bad, & The Blues came in 8th place in the Memphis Blues Challenge, a national competition of blues bands. He will be leading an all day blues jam in the Attic Theater where you can try all the hot licks you learned during the sessions.

Joe Boes | Alternate Tunings: Joe is a long time teacher at Durdel’s Music in Toledo and Toledo School for the Arts. He plays at various venues around Toledo with his band, Mojo Joe and his Noble Jones. Joe will help you unlock the door of alternate tunings and help you see your guitar in a whole new way.

Don & Grant Flick | More Than Just Bluegrass: Don is a sought after multi-talented musician and his son, Grant, follows in his footsteps as a champion fiddle player. They will take you on a roller-coaster ride of bluegrass and beyond with tips on how to master your craft.

Ken Zuercher | The Jazz Man: Ken’s jazz style has attracted the attention of the area’s top players. When he isn’t teaching at Toledo School for the Arts or playing out, Ken manufactures his own line of guitar amplifiers, Zuercher Amplification. His unique ability to explain jazz will be beneficial to players of all skill levels.

Gary Seger | Pedal Steel Guitar: Gary is one of the Midwest’s best known steel players. His former band, Nashville North, had opened up for many of Nashville’s top country acts. Gary will help break down the basics of steel guitar. He will convey his expertise to help you understand the seemingly complicated steel guitar.

Kerry Clark | Songwriting: Kerry has had the number one Folk CD on the Billboard charts for 13 weeks. His vast amount of experience will be shared with everyone in this session. Learn how to write a song from beginning to end with this top song writer.

Uncle Lewie | All About the Bass: Uncle Lewie has been a musician since he was 8 years old playing with numerous bands along the way, most currently with the high-energy East River Drive. During his session he will teach you “All About the Bass” and more. Lewie’s fun personality and polished skill will make this session one you won’t want to miss.
