Denny played with many superstars in America’s favorite pastime such as Al Kaline, Mickey Lolich, Jim Brunning, Curt Flood, Reggie Jackson, Orlando Cepeda, Rollie Fingers, Catfish Hunter, Frank Howard, Hank Aaron and Manager Ted Williams. He will be sharing his experiences with these players and others.

Denny McLain is a former Senator, Athletic, and Brave but his triumphs in baseball can be attributed to his time with the Detroit Tigers organization. Denny was a home run hit in his professional debut in the minor leagues, striking out 16 batters. He progressed swiftly through the Tigers’ minor league system and marked his major league debut with the Tigers by throwing a complete game, winning 4-3 and also hitting a home run in that game, his only career homer. McLain made history as a Detroit Tiger when he won 31 games in 1968, the only one to do so since the previous 30 game winner Dizzy Dean in 1934. That same year, Denny was a world champion with the Tigers winning World Series Game 6 over the Cardinals. Most impressively, he is the only player in the history of baseball to win both the MVP and Cy Young Awards unanimously.

McLain had a 10 year career in the great game of baseball. He is the author and co-author of three baseball books and has appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, Sports Illustrated as well as countless other sports publications.

The famed pitcher looks forward to meeting local fans, talking baseball and signing autographs at Grogan’s Towne Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram at 6100 Telegraph Road in Toledo.
