Description: Inspired by the McCarthy hearings of the 1950s, Arthur Miller's play, The Crucible, focuses on the inconsistencies of the Salem witch trials and the extreme behavior that can result from dark desires and hidden agendas. Southview Theatre will present the play on October 24th and 26th at 7:30 p.m. The performance is directed by Brandi Shepard and will be held at Southview High School, 7225 Sylvania Avenue. Over fifty cast, crew and orchestra students will tell the story of a young farmer, his wife, and a young servant-girl who maliciously causes the wife's arrest for witchcraft. The farmer brings the girl to court to admit the lie—and it is here that the monstrous course of bigotry and deceit is terrifyingly depicted. The farmer, instead of saving his wife, finds himself also accused of witchcraft and ultimately condemned with a host of others. Tickets are $7 for students and seniors; $9 for adults. Ticket information and more is available by calling 419-824-8580 extension 6202 or by emailing bshepard@sylvaniaschools.org.
