Deet's BBQ wins honors at Toledo Rib-Off

Deet's BBQ was the local and overall winner of the 2012 Northwest Ohio Rib-Off at the Lucas County Fairgrounds this weekend, successfully defending its titles from a year ago, event organizers said Sunday evening.

Texas Outlaw was the national winner, also successfully defending its 2011 championship in that category.

For the first time, voting was conducted by text message, replacing the collection of paper ballots at a voting booth, said Mike Baumgartner, the Rib-Off's food and beverage manager.
