These Burger Bundles, submitted by Sue Temme of Toledo, bring together the best elements of stuffed poultry, hamburgers, and casseroles.
The family-favorite recipe dates at least to the 1980s, when Ms. Temme received it from her sister, former Toledoan Cathy Terrill.
Burger Bundles
1 cup stuffing mix
1 pound ground beef
¼ cup chopped onion
⅓ cup evaporated milk
1 can cream of mushroom soup
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon ketchup
Preheat oven to 350°. Prepare stuffing according to package directions.
Combine meat, onion, and evaporated milk, and divide into four 6-inch patties. Put ¼ cup stuffing in center of each meat patty, and then pull the meat over the stuffing, and seal. Place the bundles in a 1½-quart casserole.
Combine soup, Worcestershire sauce, and ketchup, and pour over the meat bundles. Bake uncovered for 45 minutes.
Yield: 4 servings
