A new patio at Mulvaney’s Bunker Irish Pub & Grill will feature music from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.

A popular Dorr Street pub near Inverness Club that closed late last year will reopen next week under new ownership.

Mulvaney’s Bunker Irish Pub and Grub, 4941 Dorr St., will have a grand opening Thursday, operating manager Nino Perna said.

“We’ve been under construction since May,” Mr. Perna said. “We’ve done extensive work in the kitchen. We built a brand new patio. We enclosed the patio with a beautiful canopy.”

A large, full-service patio bar also is new, and the indoor back bar has been rebuilt to better mimic an old Irish pub.

Mr. Perna said they’re finishing up training and wrapping up the last details to ready the restaurant and bar to open. The pub is expected to employ about 55 people.

Some menu items will carry over, including the Bunker Balls — boneless chicken bites that were popular during the restaurant's previous life.

They also plan to have Irish-themed bar mainstays such as shepherd’s pie and Irish stew, as well as burgers, salads, sandwiches, and wraps. Mr. Perna said all food will be made in house.

The former Mulvaney’s closed in November. The new ownership group is the same group behind several Monroe restaurants, including Dolce Vita Italian and Sushi Yono.

Mr. Perna said the owners felt there was a good opportunity with Mulvaney’s.

“Mulvaney’s Bunker has always had a great reputation in Toledo, and we felt it was a shame it went to the wayside,” he said.

The pub plans live acoustic music on the patio from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. It will host bands inside from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.

Mr. Perna said they’re already seeing interest.

“We’ve had more people come through the door this week trying to eat here than I could have wished for,” he said Friday. “I think it’s going to be a great mix of all age groups.”

He’s hoping to attract the Inverness crowd for lunch, family groups for dinner, and more of a bar crowd later in the evening.

Plans are already under way, he said, for a St. Patrick’s Day bash next year.
