Dinner tonight: Beef Burgundy

8/26/2013

Cooler weather is coming before you know it. And when we find ourselves newly chilled, we will be thankful for a hearty, delicious, and warming meal. Jane Ashenfelter of Whitehouse submitted this super-easy recipe for the classic French dish, Beef Burgundy. Best of all, it requires only five ingredients, or 20 fewer than Julia Child’s version of the same dish.

Beef Burgundy

  • 3 pounds stew meat cut into small pieces
  • 1 package onion soup mix
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup burgundy
  • 1 large can mushrooms

Preheat oven to 350°.

Mix together meat, onion soup mix, can of soup, and burgundy in a casserole. Cover and bake 3 hours. Add mushrooms, cover again, and bake 30 minutes longer. Serve over rice or buttered noodles.
