CINCINNATI — Big Boy is switching soft drinks.

Cincinnati-based Frisch’s Restaurants is going to offer Pepsi and Dr. Pepper, after five decades of Coca-Cola products. All 96 company-owned Frisch’s Big Boy restaurants and 24 franchised eateries are converting over the month. The regional chain has restaurants around Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana.

The Cincinnati Enquirer reports that the publicly traded company decided to make the change as a new contract came up. Marketing vice president Karen Maier says the new contract is for seven years.

She says Frisch’s knows that generations of its customers have enjoyed cherry or vanilla Cokes, but says the company found that Pepsi versions were popular at a Toledo franchisee’s restaurant.
