Dinner Tonight: Hot Dog Casserole

2/24/2014

This casserole has it all. Hot dogs and mustard, noodles and tomato soup, and onions for a little extra kick. All it needs is a baseball game to watch while eating it. The recipe comes to us courtesy of Sherry Wesolowski, of Maumee

Hot Dog Casserole

  • 3 tablespoons butter, divided
  • 8 hot dogs, sliced
  • ¼ cup diced onions
  • 1 can tomato soup
  • 1 tablespoon mustard
  • ¾ cup water
  • 2-3 cups cooked noodles
  • ½ cup bread crumbs

Preheat oven to 350°.

Melt 2 tablespoons of the butter over medium-high heat; add hot dogs and onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until hot dogs are brown and onions are translucent. Mix in soup, mustard, and water. Place in casserole dish and fold in noodles. In a small pan over medium-low heat, melt remaining 1 tablespoon butter, and stir in bread crumbs. Top casserole with buttered bread crumbs, cover, and bake for 30 minutes.
