There are three new businesses opening in the Shops at Fallen Timbers this week, but a restaurant called the Tilted Kilt Pub & Eatery is getting most of the attention.

The Tilted Kilt describes itself as “a Celtic-themed sports pub staffed with beautiful servers in sexy plaid kilts and matching plaid bras.”

It opens today.

“People may come in because of the girls, but they’ll come back because of the beer and the amazing food,” said Patti Urbaniak, who is the bar manager and handles marketing for the local franchise.

The menu includes most of the things you would expect to find at a sports bar: chicken wings, burgers, sandwiches, wraps, and flatbread pizzas.

But it also has Irish stew, Gaelic chicken, shepherd’s pie, fish and chips, and Irish nachos.

The chain started in Las Vegas in 2003. It now has 90 restaurants in the United States and Canada, with 20 more in development.

Comparisons to the Hooters chain are inevitable, but Ms. Urbaniak said she thinks customers will find the quality of the food to be the biggest difference.

Sean Cahill, who operates franchises in Novi and Hagerstown, Md., owns the Maumee franchise.

One of his first hires was Ms. Urbaniak, a Perrysburg native who attended Notre Dame Academy and the University of Toledo. She previously managed the Red Robin restaurant at Fallen Timbers.

Ms. Urbaniak said the Tilted Kilt will feature 30 kinds of draught beer, including local products from Maumee Bay Brewing Co. and Catawba Island Brewing Co. Sports fans will find 48 televisions, including five on the two outdoor patios.

The Tilted Kilt will be near P.F. Chang’s. Some of the space was previously occupied by a nail salon, and the rest was vacant. The Tilted Kilt has been working since December to prepare the space.

Ms. Urbaniak said the restaurant has hired about 170 employees. She said male employees, other than the cooks, will wear longer, black kilts and black t-shirts.

The restaurant will open at 11 a.m. daily. It will close at midnight Sunday through Wednesday and stay open until 2 a.m. Thursday through Saturday.

The other new businesses at the Shops at Fallen Timbers are Shoe Dept. Encore and Sephora.

Shoe Dept. Encore will open on Friday next to Kay Jewelers. The 13,175-square foot store offers well-known brands of footwear for men, women, and children in a variety of price ranges.

Also opening Friday is the Sephora store inside J.C. Penney. The 2,200-foot Sephora store features beauty products, makeup, fragrances, skincare products, along with product consultants to advise customers.
