The Schedel Arboretum and Gardens has restored a tradition, thanks to a $1,000 grant from the Ottawa County Community Foundation and a gift from the family of Marilyn Bandfield.

The money was used to plant 600 chrysanthemums along the driveway to the manor house. The fall display had been an annual tradition, but was halted a few years ago to cut costs.

The arboretum and gardens, 19255 W. Portage River South Rd., close for the season Oct. 31. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday. For more information, call 419-862-3182 or visit schedel-gardens.org.
