Edward Hills III, a 17-year-old freshman to be at Morehouse College in Atlanta, hit the shot of a lifetime Friday.
Hills became only the second person to get a hole in one on No. 18 at Inverness Club.
The Cleveland resident used a driver on the 306-yard par 4.
On Sept. 30, 1998, Joe Horvath aced Inverness' famed closing hole.
Hills, who shot a 77, was playing Inverness to prepare for this weekend's 13th annual Chuck Cohen/TMGA National Invitational Golf Championship at Ottawa Park.
The event has a field of 60 high school and college, male and female minority golfers from 14 states.
After yesterday's first round, John Thornton and St. Francis de Sales standout Zachary Smith were tied at 70.
The best score among the girls was a 74 by Maggie Noel.
The tournament concludes today with play starting at 8 a.m.
