Paula Creamer and Beatriz Recari are tied for the lead at the completion of the third round of the Marathon Classic today at Highland Meadows Golf Club.
Creamer and Recari are tied with a 12-under-par for 201. Creamer made par on the par-5 18th hole, while Recari birdied the 18th.
Creamer has nine career wins but hasn't won a tournament since 2010, when she won the U.S. Women's Open.
"This is great," Creamer said. "I love this feeling, and I haven't felt it in a while. I've normally been chasing the leaders. But this is great, this is right where I want to be and hopefully I'll have a good day tomorrow and see what happens."
Creamer and Recari are three strokes ahead of Lexi Thompson, Chie Arimura and Jacqui Concolino, who are in a three-way tie for third at 204.
"There's still 18 holes left and a lot could happen," Recari said. "So you just really try to stay in the present as much as you can, go shot by shot and stay patient, like I did today. I had some really good chances that didn't go in, but I stayed patient out there. It was great to finish with a birdie-birdie [on 17 and 18]."
The final round of the Marathon Classic begins at 9:30 a.m. Sunday at Highland Meadows. Creamer, Recari and Thompson will begin from the first hole at 11:20 a.m.
