Sieberg sparks Maumee Valley win

Maumee Valley's Megan Sieberg posted a triple-double for the Hawks in their 63-31 victory over Monroeville last night in girls basketball.

Sieberg, a sophomore point guard, had 22 points, 10 rebounds, and 12 assists. She made 8 of 11 shots from the field and 6 of 7 free throws.

Junior guard Laquell Brown added 19 points and senior forward Kathy Shelley 16 for Maumee Valley (4-0).

NOTRE DAME 83, WAUSEON 44

The Eagles moved to 3-0 with the home-court win as junior guard Shayla Bell scored 24 points and pulled down seven rebounds.

Stephanie Hunter added 21 points for the Eagles.

Kelly Stechschulte paced Wauseon (1-2) with 14 points.

OTTAWA HILLS 69, SWANTON 48

SWANTON -- The Green Bears roared out to a 29-8 first-quarter advantage and never looked back.

Lauren Kruse had a game-high 27 points, including six 3-point shots, three of which were in the first period. LeeAnn Woodward added 18 for Ottawa Hills (3-0).

Trish Brashear paced Swanton with 12 points. The Bulldogs committed 37 turnovers.

OTSEGO 42, DELTA 29

DELTA - Andrea Shoup scored 14 points as Otsego got its first victory after two losses. Sara Tracy led Delta (1-2) with seven points.

Otsego outrebounded Delta 32-24.

CLAY 77, ROGERS 73

The Eagles withstood a furious fourth-quarter rally by the visiting Rams and sophomore forward Kristin Crawford scored 22 points for Clay (1-1).

Senior guard Gina Morton tallied 25 for Rogers (2-1) and senior forward Ashley Ellis added 23, including 15 in the first half.

The Rams cut the lead from 12 to five points with about four minutes to play after scoring seven points in about five seconds on four free throws and a 3-pointer, but the Eagles held on for the win.

Rogers pumped in six 3-pointers and made 9 of 10 free throws in the fourth quarter. Clay wasn't quite as accurate, but the Eagles took advantage of extra opportunities, sinking 13 of 20 free throws in the final period.
