Girls basketball roundup: Fremont edges Clay; Woodward downs SU

FREMONT - Fallon Bailey scored just two points but they were the winning two as Fremont Ross squeezed past Clay 55-54 last night in double overtime.

Laura Wilson scored 16 points for the Little Giants (11-1, 7-1 GLL) and Alison Decker added 15.

Kate Achter paced Clay (7-6, 4-4) with 25 points.

WOODWARD 57, ST. URSULA 54

Misti Horton threw in 24 points and pulled down 13 rebounds, and Ebony Jones contributed 17 points, 12 assists and 7 steals as the Polar Bears beat the Arrows.

Second-half defense and seven 3-pointers were the key for Woodward in its first win over a Toledo Catholic school in at least nine years, coach James Jones said.

Natalie Waldon had 15 for the Arrows.

SANDUSKY 49, WHITMER 47

Bridget Buss led the Panthers (3-9) with 21 points.

Kelly Heil scored 17 points and Stephanie Kneisley added 11 for the Cougars. Both teams are 6-2 in Northern Lakes League play.

Kirsten Hoffman and Kelly Crain scored 13 and 12, respectively, for the Yellow Jackets (9-3).
