Clay clips unbeaten Northview

Clay raced to a 7-0 lead and built it into a 28-14 advantage before knocking off previously unbeaten Northview in a girls basketball game last night.

Both teams are 5-1.

The Wildcats clawed their way back, but the Eagles put the game away by making five of their last six free throws.

Northview's Julia Dempster topped all scorers with 16 points.

Kate Achter led Clay with 15. Kristin Habbeger and Kristin Crawford chipped in with 13 and 11 points, respectively.

SOUTHVIEW 45,

The Cougars' Kelly Ronda came up with a steal in the lane with two seconds left to preserve the win.

Tiffany Paris paced Southview (2-3) with 10 points.

Ashley Burgin led all scores with 12 points for the Arrows (2-5).

NORTHWOOD 65,

BETTSVILLE 42

Emily Reardon led the Rangers with 19 points. Alicia St. Johns added 15 points and nine rebounds and Kelly Parrish scored 13. Stacy Ziegler had 14 rebounds.

Angie Broski netted 17 for the Bobcats.

OTTAWA HILLS 70,

MAUMEE VALLEY 67

Megan Sieberg poured in 35 points and Laquelle Brown added 22 for Maumee Valley Country Day (3-4, 0-1 TAAC), but Ottawa Hills had more of a balanced attack.

Lauren Kruse and Erica Finley each scored 18 points for the visiting Green Bears (2-5, 2-0). Julie Lorkowski added 16.

LIBERTY CENTER 57, STRYKER 48

STRYKER - Katie McClure poured in a game-high 20 points for the Tigers.

Megan Wachtman added 13 points for Liberty Center (6-1).

Megan Meyers scored 14 points and grabbed six rebounds for Stryker (3-3).

EVERGREEN 72, TOLEDO CHRISTIAN 50

Evergreen's Leslie Stong scored 30 points to win a scoring shootout with the host Eagles' Ashley Futrell, who had 24.

BOWSHER 64, ROGERS 27

Kamesha Hairston had 10 rebounds, 10 assists and scored 14 points for the visiting Rebels.

Jazlyn Davis racked up 17 points and Lameisha Johnson added 10 for Bowsher.

Shanice Lyons paced Rogers with 12 points.

MONTPELIER 54, DELTA 32

MONTPELIER - Kayla Richmond led Montpelier (2-5) with 13 points. Jaime Brown added 12 and Melissa Brenner 10.

Sarah Friess led Delta (1-6) with nine.

START 47, SWANTON 28

Che Rogers and Brooke Walker each scored 10 points in a non-league victory for the host Spartans (4-1).

Kylee Hurst scored 12 for Swanton (4-3).
