Suburban Lakes roundup: Perfect 4th helps Genoa beat Otsego

TONTOGANY - Genoa was a perfect 8 for 8 from the floor in the fourth quarter to rally past Otsego 80-77 last night in a Suburban Lakes League game.

Otsego, which led 67-61 after three quarters, hit just 3 of 15 shots in the final period.

Mark Belkofer led the Comets (2-5, 2-2) with 21 points. Zach Diekman scored 13 and Brad Beach added 11.

Randy Calhoun paced the Knights (1-5, 1-3) with 21. Brodie Miller had 18, Nathan DuBois 15 and Tyler Smith 14.

Genoa shot 58 percent (32 of 55) from the floor to Otsego's 45 percent (31 of 69). The Comets made 11 of 16 free throws to the Knights' 7 of 10.

GIBSONBURG - Brett Gabel led Eastwood (5-1, 4-0) with 16 points.

Matt Nabors scored 12 and Brent Snyder added 10 for the Eagles, who pulled away with a 22-11 second-quarter advantage to lead 36-21 at half.

B.J. Ernsthausen topped the Golden Bears (0-7, 0-4) with 13 points. Aaron Kaseman and Brian Wassil scored 11 each.

BLOOMDALE - Travis Rothenbuler put up game-high totals of 23 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Royals, who led 38-23 at the half.

Kyle King added 14 points and nine rebounds and Tony Overton contributed 13 points for Elmwood (2-4, 1-3), which posted a 41-24 rebounding advantage.

Matt Graber paced the Raiders (2-4, 2-2) with 20 points. Tim Overly added 11.
