COLUMBUS - Toledo Christian junior Alex Wenzel shot a 35-36-71 yesterday on the Gray Course at Ohio State and finished sixth in the Division III state golf tournament with a two-day total of 142.

Wenzel, named second-team All-Ohio as the top five earned first-team status, had three birdies and hit 16 greens in regulation.

But Wenzel took 34 putts as numerous 10 to 12-footers wouldn't fall.

Lima Central Catholic won the team title with a 583 by following Friday's 299 with a 284 yesterday.

Andy Connell led the way with a 65 yesterday and a 141 total that was good for a tie for fourth individually.

The medalist was Jason Kokrak of Warren JFK with a 67-67-134. Teammate Colin Clemente was second with a 136, but Lima CC had better balance than JFK, well back in second with 596.
