Northview tops Jackets; Devils edge Southview

Julia Dempster threw in 18 points and Nikki Smith added 16 as Northview improved to 3-0 in Northern Lakes League girls basketball last night while handing Perrysburg its first loss, 44-35.

Jenny Langevin scored 13 points and Laura Markwood had 10 for the Yellow Jackets (5-1, 3-1).

Perrysburg outscored the visitors 17-5 at the free-throw line but made just eight field goals to Northview's 19.

SPRINGFIELD 54, SOUTHVIEW 52

Alex Bird hit a field goal to send the game to overtime and hit the winner in the extra period with 1.5 seconds left.

Bird poured in 26 points to lead the Blue Devils (3-3, 1-3 NLL). Melissa Trumbull added 12.

Liz Tansey scored 18 points and Stephanie Kneisley had 12 for the Cougars (1-4, 1-3).

Springfield outscored the home team 14-1 at the free-throw line.

ANTHONY WAYNE 52, BOWLING GREEN 33

Chrissy Gothke and Leslie Everhart shot a combined 13-of-21 from the floor and the Generals pulled away with a 19-7 final quarter.

Gothke finished with 16 points and 12 rebounds and Everhart had 17 points and seven rebounds for Anthony Wayne (4-2, 3-1 NLL).

Liz Chibulos scored 10 points for the visiting Bobcats (1-5, 1-2).

MAUMEE 57, ROSSFORD 26

Reva Kerkulah tossed in 20 points to pace 10 in the scoring column for the Panthers (4-3, 2-2 NLL), who led 25-15 at the half, then outscored the home team 19-7 in the third quarter.

Courtnay Simmons and Charity Tooson had six apiece for the Bulldogs.

ROGERS 41, EMMANUEL BAPTIST 31

Shaboo DeVault tallied 13 points for the Rams (1-7), who led 25-18 at the half.

Shannon Elston scored 12 for the visiting Warriors.

EASTWOOD 66, GIBSONBURG 54

PEMBERVILLE - Jessica Schult tallied 17 points and Whitney Hartman added 16 as the Eagles' claimed their 70th consecutive win in Suburban Lakes League competition.

Michelle Oberdick added 12 for Eastwood (5-1, 4-0), which outscored the visitors 39-29 in the second half.

Mallory Fleming scored 19 points and Julie Beaschler and Sarah Walby added 12 apiece for the Golden Bears (5-2, 2-2).

Gibsonburg outscored the Eagles 15-8 at the free-throw line, but Eastwood had 26 field goals to the Bears' 17.

ELMWOOD 57, WOODMORE 41

ELMORE - Stephanie Wagner scored 14 points and Sarah Morgart and Meghan Gonzales added 12 apiece as the Royals kept pace with Eastwood in the SLL at 4-0.

The Royals (5-1) led 24-19 at the half and built their lead from there.

Megan Greenley paced the Wildcats (4-2, 2-2) with 13 points.

LAKE 60, OTSEGO 47

TONTOGANY - Lindsay Heidebrink (13 points), Karis Rogacki (12) and Kelly McPherson (12) scored in double figures for the Flyers, who shot 37.7 percent from the field to the Knights' 24.7.

Lake (2-4, 2-2 SLL) outscored the home team 19-10 in the last quarter and outscored them at the free-throw line 17-9.

Jennie McVey scored 16 points and Erin Limes had 12 for Otsego (1-6, 0-4).

GENOA 66, LAKOTA 58

GENOA - Keri Williams contributed 18 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Comets, who outscored the visitors 12-6 at the free-throw line.

Courtney and Nicole Nissen added 16 and 10 points, respectively, for Genoa (1-4, 1-3 SLL). Nicole Nissen also had 11 rebounds.

Ashley Broski tallied 24 points for the Raiders. Lauren Nowak aded 11 and Sue Brickner 10.

ARCHBOLD 55, DEFIANCE 29

DEFIANCE - Amy Wanemacher scored 15 points, Betsy Stotzer added 14 and Kendra Stahl threw in 12 as the Blue Streaks rolled in the Defiance tournament.

Nicole Wagner scored 10 points for the Bulldogs.

Archbold outrebounded the home team 38-18 and held Defiance to 13 points in the second half. Stahl, Stotzer and Kitie Krueger had eight rebounds apiece.

PORT CLINTON 43, DANBURY 32

LAKESIDE - Jen Tisza scored 11 points to pace the Redskins (3-3), who took down 38 rebounds to the home team's 30.

Sarah Beasley tallied 13 for the Lakers (3-3).
