City League roundup: St. John's tops St. Xavier 59-51

B.J. Raymond scored 19 points and Brian Roberts had 14 as St. John's Jesuit defeated Cincinnati St. Xavier 59-51 in the Titan Tournament.

Raymond had six points and Roberts four - on a pair of baseline jumpers - in the fourth quarter as the Titans sealed the deal.

Johnny Wolf led St. Xavier with 17 points and Craig Cashen had 12.

In the opener, Ashland nipped Lima Shawnee 58-57 when Greg Emmons hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer.

Both defensive-minded Bowsher and St. Francis de Sales took turns shutting each other down in a rescheduled league game from Dec. 6 at Bowsher.

Behind 17–6 early in the second quarter, Bowsher finished with a 41-19 run.

St. Francis (3-2, 1-2 City League) shot only one free throw for the game. Bowsher (4-2, 2-1) was only 2 of 4 going into the fourth quarter when the Knights had to foul to get the ball.

Bowsher's Jerome Cooper was the only player from either team to score in double digits with 14. CJ Johnson had nine for the Knights.

GENOA - Mike Mathews scored 22 points, Keith Morgan had 13 and Tewon Terry scored four of his 11 in overtime as Waite beat Clay in the River East Classic.

The Indians outscored Clay 24-17 in the fourth quarter to force overtime.

Matt Warner had 21, Adam Laurell 18 and Bryan McDougle 13 for Clay.

FAYETTE - Alex Malone scored 20 points and Mike French added 17 as Woodward took a holiday tournament victory over Delta.

Ryan Parsons led Delta with 18 and Chaz Abbott had 14.

The Polar Bears took control with a 24-9 second quarter and 21-6 third.

After a 17-17 first-quarter deadlock, Whitmer outscored Rogers 23-8 in the second quarter of a game in the Maumee Rotary Classic at Owens.

Todd Lindroth led the Panthers with 24 points, Cory Berghardt added 17 and J.J. Fought 10.

Jarret Wyatt paced Rogers with 21, Brent Jones had 13 and Vic Green 10.

Whitmer had nine treys to Rogers' four and hit 17 of 20 foul shots to the Rams' 5 of 10.
