Eastwood victory sparked by Beeley

PEMBERVILLE - Steve Beeley shook off a knee injury to spark Eastwood to a 64-52 victory over visiting Lakota last night for a repeat Suburban Lakes League championship.

The Eagles (14-6, 11-3) shared the title with Woodmore.

Beeley scored both inside and outside, popping in two 3-pointers and slamming two dunks, to lead Eastwood with 22 points.

Brent Snyder and Arik Witker added nine points apiece for the Eagles.

P.J. Combs tallied 14 points and Andrew Hoffman 12 for Lakota (3-17, 1-13).

TONTOGANY - The result left both teams 11-9 overall and 8-6 in the league.

Brodie Miller paced Otsego with 25, Damien Montelongo 18 and Chad Zellin 11.

Travis Rothenbuhler scored 22 and Kyle Rhoad 16 for Elmwood.

Otsego, which hit 20 of 30 foul shots to Elmwood's 9 of 14, outgunned the Royals 30-29 in the fourth quarter.

MILLBURY - Tony Marchetto poured in 22 points and Wes Blank added 16 as the Flyers had little trouble with the Golden Bears.

Marchetto hit nine points in the fourth quarter when Lake (10-10, 7-7) was making 13 of 19 free throws to keep Gibsonburg (2-18, 2-12) at bay.

B.J. Ernsthausen and Ryan Wasserman each had 12 for Gibsonburg.
