Jackets earn share of title

Perrysburg secured a share of the Northern Lakes League title by downing rival Maumee 58-50 last night on the road.

The Yellow Jackets (16-4, 12-2) outscored the Panthers 19-9 in a pivotal second quarter.

Mike Dhondt, who came into the game ranked second in the NLL in scoring, finished with 16. Mark Badenhop added 13 and Ryan Lewandowski 11 for the Yellow Jackets, who won the league crown last season.

Josh Arthur paced Maumee with a game-high 18 points. Adam Russell chipped in with 15 for the Panthers (9-11, 5-9).

Steve Kyser scored 23 points and Southview's press caused 17 Rossford turnovers.

Ray Thomas added 17 and Poncho Valdez 11 for Southview (16-4, 10-4).

Darren Paige led Rossford (5-15, 3-11) with 15, Kyle Ingraham added 12, Kevin Keller 11 and Keith Boris 10.

Southview led just 31-27 at the half.

The Generals canned 22 of 24 free throws - including 14 of 16 in the fourth quarter - while Springfield hit 13 of 21.

Josh Bowers led AW with 14, Joe McVicker had 12 and Brad Wimmer 10.

Marquis Hayes led Springfield with 26 and Todd Leonard added 10.

Both teams finished 7-13 overall and 4-10 in the league.
