NLL: Generals defeat Maumee

Anthony Wayne defeated Maumee 74-67 last night in Northern lakes League action on the Generals floor, but the game within a game was even closer and perhaps more interesting.

Joe McVicker scored 40 points for Anthony Wayne while Chris Poellnitz tallied 39 for Maumee.

McVicker made 12 field goals and 16 foul shots. Poellnitz made 10 2-pointers, five 3-pointers and four free throws.

The only other player in double figures was the Generals Tony Zacharias with 11.

With McVicker s big night from the line, the Generals outscored the Panthers 22-11 there.

Southview placed four in double figures to win the battle of Sylvania.

Ray Thomas had 19, Steve Kyser 17, Mike Norris 12 and Aaron Waldie 11 for the Cougars (3-0, 1-0).

Bryan Heidtman paced Northview (0-2, 0-1) with 16 and Josh Maze added 10.

Southview hit 17 of 23 foul shots to 11 of 15 for Northview.

After trailing 8-6 after one quarter, Rossford burned Springfield 25-9 in the second quarter to take control.

Kevin Keller paced the Bulldogs with 17 points and Brad Jones added nine.

Fletcher Noble led Springfield with 17 points, including a 10-for-11 performance at the foul line.

Rossford hit 8 of 17 foul shots and made three treys while Springfield went 12 of 23 from the line with three treys, but the Bulldogs netted 18 2-pointers to the Blue Devils eight.
