Evergreen tops Toledo Christian

Evergreen advanced to 7-1 on the season with a 56-49 girls basketball victory at Toledo Christian last night.

Leslie Stong paced the Vikings with 16 points and Crystal Sheldon added 11.

Toledo Christian (6-3) was led by Alissa Toth with 15, while Jackie Emmenecker totaled 14.

FAYETTE 49, DELTA 32

DELTA - The undefeated Eagles blew the nonconference game open with an 18-7 third quarter.

Sarah Lichtenwald (12), Sarah Bird (11) and Stephanie McCord (11) all hit double digits for Fayette (10-0).

Lauren Ruple was high for the Panthers (2-6), who trailed by only 19-14 at halftime, with 10 points.

WAUSEON 33, DEFIANCE 24

WAUSEON - Sara Roth scored 15 points, pacing the Indians to the nonconference victory.

Wauseon trailed 14-9 after the first quarter, but held the Bulldogs to just two points in the second while taking a 20-16 halftime lead. The teams played evenly in the third period, then the Indians put on the defensive clamps again in the fourth, holding Defiance to only a trey by Jennifer Zeller.

Wauseon (7-3) survived 15 turnovers. Defiance (4-7) turned the ball over eight times. The Indians held a 34-30 edge on the boards.

LIBERTY CENTER 40, BRYAN 31

LIBERTY CENTER - Amanda Bell sank 10 of 11 free throws as part of her game-high 19 points as she led the Tigers to victory.

Liberty Center rolled to a 23-12 halftime lead and coasted. The Tigers made 13 of 17 free throws to 5 of 8 for the visiting Golden Bears.
