NLL: Perrysburg wins with tough defense

After forcing turnovers on Northview s first five possessions, Perrysburg maintained solid defense throughout the game for a 46-35 Northern Lakes League victory over the Wildcats.

Mike Dhondt led the Yellow Jackets (11-4, 7-3) with 17 points and Tyler Winkleman added 13 points and 10 rebounds.

Joe Caig added nine Perrysburg rebounds and the Jackets allowed the Wildcats to reach double figures in a quarter only in the fourth (10).

Cody Shoemaker led Northview (7-7, 5-4) with nine points.

The Bulldogs hit 11 of 15 field goal attempts in the first half (73 percent) then made free throws down the stretch to knock off the visiting Panthers.

Rossford finished 19 of 31 from the floor (61 percent). The Panthers shot 45 percent.

Brad Jones paced Rossford (6-10, 2-9) with 15 points. Andrew Schumacher scored 14 and Sean Kanary added 13.

Dante Pyles tallied 10 points and grabbed 14 of the Bulldogs 21 rebounds.

Andy Dybala led Maumee (5-10, 3-7) with 16 points. Kipp Dawson scored 13 and Brad Goatley 10.

Prior to the game the court at Rossford was dedicated to long-time coach Joe Stalma.

BOWLING GREEN - Joe McVicker scored 25 points, including 11 from the foul line, as the Generals surprised Bowling Green.

Eric Bayus added 12 points for Anthony Wayne (6-9, 5-5).

Michael Graffin paced Bowling Green (10-4, 6-3) with 15 points, Jimmy Green added 13 and Andrew Vroman had 12.

All of Graffin s points came on treys, which the Bobcats hitting six to Anthony Wayne s two.

But the Generals outscored the Bobcats at the foul line 22-7.

Ray Thomas led three Southview (12-3, 8-2) players in double figures with 18 points, as the Cougars knocked off Springfield.

Jamar Murchison and Steve Kyser added 17 points apiece for Southview.

Eric Browne scored 16 points for Springfield and Fletcher Noble added 12.

Southview forced the Blue Devils into 31 turnovers.
