NWOAL: Moore sparks Montpelier win

METAMORA - Kurt Moore ran 26 times for 152 yards and three touchdowns to lead Montpelier to a 34-22 victory last night at Evergreen.

Moore scored on runs of 5, 22 and 11 yards for the Locomotives (5-4, 4-3), who ground out 189 yards and led 21-6 at the half.

Jack Wade paced Evergreen (3-6, 1-6) with 94 yards on 11 carries, while Andrew Szabo scored twice in the fourth quarter on runs of 2 and 25 yards. Tyler Winn (9-of-24, 101 yards, 2 interceptions) also completed a six-yard TD pass to Travis Dowling in the second quarter.

Austin Bailey scored for Montpelier on a 56-yard interception return and Stewart Thorpe ran three yards for a touchdown that got the scoring started in the first quarter.

Thorpe also completed 7 of 15 passes for 114 yards but threw two interceptions.

The Vikings compiled 266 total yards, 165 on the ground.

Wauseon 6, Archbold 0

ARCHBOLD - In a game devoid of offense, Wauseon's Tim Burkholder scored the only points by returning an interception 16 yards in the fourth quarter.

Wauseon (4-5, 4-3) gained just 63 yards on 45 rushes and added 36 passing yards by connecting on 4 of 10.

Archbold (4-5, 3-4) rushed 33 times for 109 yards and gained just 16 passing by completing 3 of 12.

Archbold's Casey Nofziger gained 64 yards on 16 carries. Each team fumbled once, but Wauseon did not lose its fumble. Archbold suffered three interceptions while Wauseon suffered one.

Bryan 28, Swanton 20

SWANTON - Jamie Lorentz accounted for three touchdowns to pace Bryan (2-7, 2-5).

Lorentz ran 39 and 37 yards for scores then hit Derek Hartsock on an 11-yard touchdown pass.

Bryan also got a 22-yard TD run by Hartsock. Lorentz, who hit 4 of 9 passes for 50 yards, ran for 165 yards on 14 carries while Hartsock gained 115 yards, also on 14 carries. Bryan ran for 310 yards.

Matt Taynor scored on runs of 1 and 57 yards for Swanton (0-9, 0-7).

HAMLER - Bill Inselmann picked up his 100th victory (45 losses) as his Patriots romped over the visitors from Delphos.

Josh Strub gained 87 yards on 11 carries and scored three TDs.

Zack George hit 11 of 15 passes for 128 yards and one touchdown.

His favorite target, Marc Krauss, grabbed eight passes for 140 yards and two scores.

The Patriots (9-0) ran for 125 yards and added 265 passing as seven players recorded rushes and three completed passes.
