TAAC: Interception seals deal for Cardinals

After quarterback Craig Huntermark gave Cardinal Stritch a lead, Toledo Christian was driving for a potential winning score when Brad Manders intercepted a pass with 1:35 remaining to seal the Cardinals' 20-14 win.

Stritch trailed 14-7 with 4:20 left when Huntermark found Eric McCloskey for a five-yard TD to tie the game. Huntermark then gave Cardinal Stritch (4-5, 2-1) the lead on a one-yard run.

The Eagles then drove down to the Cardinals' 30-yard line when Manders came up with the pick.

Manders also scored on a one-yard run. Huntermark was 18 of 19 for 169 yards for Stritch.

Toledo Christian's Ben Holt rushed for 146 yards and scored on a 79-yard run. Dan Newman passed for 86 yards and scored on a one-yard run. The Eagles (5-4, 2-1) rushed for 252 yards.

Northwood 42, Danbury 13

Andy Zablocki ran for 135 yards on nine carries with touchdown runs of 39 and 1 yards for the Rangers (4-5, 2-1).

Tommy Nehring got Northwood off to a great start by returning the opening kickoff 82 yards for a touchdown.

The other Northwood scores came on a 24-yard run by Jake Grigson, a 12-yard run by Don Klenke and a one-yard run by Tony Caligiuri.
