Watterson, Walsh Jesuit tourney leaders

COLUMBUS - Columbus Watterson led the Division I boys and Cuyahoga Falls Walsh Jesuit the girls yesterday after the first rounds of their respective state golf tournaments.

Watterson totaled 312 strokes over the 7,141-yard, par 72 Scarlet course at Ohio State University with Cincinnati Moeller close behind at 314.

Northview was sixth in the 12-team field at 326 as Ben Treece shot a 79, David Treece an 80, Pat Ducey 82 and Chase Yacko 85. Fremont Ross was tied for seventh with Strongsville at 327.

Hamilton's Kyle Hodges matched par at 72 with Moeller's Michael Kroeger next at 73. No northwest Ohio golfer placed in the top 10.

Walsh Jesuit totaled 331 over the 5,660-yard, par 71 Gray course. Dublin Jerome was next at 342.

St. Ursula was 12th at 381.

Jesuit led with a 73 and Kelsey Lindenschmidt of Cincinnati Ursuline was next with a 75.

Both events conclude with 18 holes today.
