Central girls roll past Clay

Central Catholic forced 32 turnovers and had 49 rebounds as the Irish coasted to a 77-29 girls basketball win over Clay in their season opener.

Central had 16 offensive boards and Jessica Minnfield scored a game-high 21 points. Mallory Strall added 13 points and Lisa Scott had 10.

Kristen Krempa paced the Eagles with nine points. Clay shot 46 percent from the field.

WAITE 50, WHITMER 42

Waite started off hot and the Panthers cold, and Whitmer never caught up in the City League game.

Tatyna McNeal (11 points), Anedria Allen (10) and Shonika Knowles (10) paced the Indians' balanced offense, while Anita Randolph was high for Whitmer (0-2, 0-1) with 10 points.

Knowles and Jessica Rocker had 10 rebounds each for Waite (1-0, 1-0).

BOWSHER 70,

WOODWARD 27

Stephany Johnson scored 27 points to lead host Bowsher in its opener.

Erin Cassidy added 13.

Regina Nicholson paced Woodward (0-2, 0-1 CL) with 16 points.

ST. URSULA 53,

NOTRE DAME 50

Emily and Ali Florian combined for 27 points as the Arrows took the win on the road.

Ali Florian scored a game-high 15 points, while Emily Florian finished with 12. Jena Blosser added 13 for St. Ursula.

Heather Wiczynski led the Eagles with 10 points.

Notre Dame trailed by two at the half and three after three quarters, but could never catch the Arrows.
