Central Catholic edges Notre Dame

Jessica Minnfield scored 14 points and Ellen Herman added 11 and Sharise Calhoun 10 to lead Central Catholic (5-0) to a 54-52 City League girls basketball win over Notre Dame last night.

Notre Dame, which missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer, got 16 points from Kristen Kerscher and 14 from Patrice Labor.

The Irish won the rebounding battle 23-18.

BOWSHER 49, LIBBEY 29

Stephany Johnson scored 15 points and dished out five assists to pace Bowsher (5-0, 3-0 City) over Libbey (2-4, 1-2), which got 10 points from Kadiyia Gregory.

Bowsher outscored Libbey 35-11 in the first half.

START 72, WHITMER 39

Candace Coleman threw in 21 points to lead four Spartans scoring in double figures.

Lisa Hickman added 16 points, Keaira Marsenburg had 13 and Sandi Brown 10 for Start (3-1, 2-1 City), which led 43-16 at the half and outscored the visitors 17-6 at the free throw line.

Katie Lord and Alison Schloz led the Panthers (0-4, 0-3) with eight apiece.

WAITE 66, ROGERS 13

Tatyana McNeal led three Waite players in double figures with 13 points. Shareese Ulis and Lakina Cleveland had 11 points apiece for the Indians.

SCOTT 62, CLAY 34

Meisha Blackshear scored 17 points, Precious Hands added 13 and 10 players scored for Scott (2-3, 2-1 CL).

Susan Achter led host Clay (0-5, 0-3) with nine points as 10 Eagles scored as well.

BETTSVILLE - Brittany Bogart poured in 30 points for Northwood (4-1). Michelle Klenke added 12 and Laryn Ziegler 10. Emily Johnson led Bettsville (0-5) with 13.

EMMANUEL BAPTIST 23

METAMORA - Evergreen placed six in double figures as Natalie Creque and Haley Keller had 14 apiece, Crystal Skeldon and Laura Farnsel had 11 each and Kelly Beer and Megan Bates had 10 apiece. Hulie Bernhard paced Emmanuel Baptist with eight.

BRYAN 50, TINORA 23

TINORA - Megan Denoi paced Bryan (4-1) with nine points as 10 Bears scored. Erin Garmyn led Tinora (0-5) with 11.

HICKSVILLE 50, STRYKER 37

HICKSVILLE - Caitlin Fleming scored 13 points and Hicksville hit 20 of 40 foul shots.

EDGERTON 45, FAYETTE 41

EDGERTON - Shari Nihart scored 13 to pace Edgerton.
