Boys basketball roundup: Third period lifts Scott

Darrion Griffin tallied 10 of his 14 points in the third quarter, many off feeds from Kyle Lightner, as Scott outscored the visitors 28-16 en route to a

71-56 victory over Cleveland John Rhodes last night.

Lightner led unbeaten Scott (6-0) with 16 points, Rayshawn Maulsby added 11 and James Walker had 10.

Rayshaun Goins and Thomas Duncan scored 17 apiece for Rhodes (4-2).

BOWSHER 58, ANTHONY WAYNE 52

The Rebels hit six consecutive free throws to end the game as they tripped up the Generals.

Anthony Pettaway scored 15 points and pulled down 12 rebounds for the Rebels (2-4), who outscored the visitors 17-10 in the fourth quarter and 17-8 at the free-throw line on 23 attempts. Craig Weaks and Ken Hairston added 13 and 11 points, respectively.

Kris Koval scored 16 and Brent Pappenfuss had 15 for the Generals (3-3).

WHITMER 70, NORTHVIEW 42

Nick Specht scored 10 of his 16 points in the first quarter, and Andre Thompson had nine of his 19 in the second as the Panthers built a 39-22 lead and rolled.

J.J. Fought added 12 for Whitmer (2-4), which outscored the visitors 16-4 at the foul line.

Tom Streit led Northview (1-6) with 21 points.

ST. FRANCIS 58, MONROE 43

MONROE, Mich. - Darryl Roberts scored 18 points, dished out five assists and pulled down six rebounds to lead the Knights.

Chris Ceparski also had nine rebounds for St. Francis (4-2).

Kris Evans scored 14 points and Jay Thompson had 12 for Monroe (2-3).

CLEVELAND - Robert Barner scored 13 points and Tehran Jones added 10, but the Polar Bears fell on the road after being outscored 26-18 in the second half.

BOWLING GREEN 55, OTTAWA-GLANDORF 41

BOWLING GREEN - Jeremiah Kollar scored 20 points, including six 3-pointers for the Bobcats, who trailed by eight at the half.

Ryan Hoehner contributed 13 points and was 8-of-8 from the free-throw line. BG (8-0) was 20-of-21 from the charity stripe.

Nathan Pothap led O-G (1-4) with eight points.

SPRINGFIELD 66, BEDFORD 46

Fletcher Noble carried the Blue Devils to a win over visiting Bedford with a 29-point performance, including three treys and 10 points from the foul line. Springfield put up 26 points in the final quarter to secure the victory.

Brett Sergent led the Mules with 17 points, followed by Joe Jablonski, who netted 10.

PERRYSBURG 62, BELLEVUE 40

Tyler Winkleman tossed in 22 points and Jamie Casey had 10 for the Yellow Jackets (6-1), who led 17-5 after one quarter and 33-7 at the half.

Adam Gracemyer led visiting Bellevue with nine.

Duncan Long added eight points and eight rebounds for Perrysburg.

COLUMBIAN 59, MAUMEE 41

TIFFIN - Robert Kisabeth scored 15 points, Derek Rinehart had 12 and Jason Florence 10 for the Tornadoes (2-1), who led 25-15 at the half.

Andy Dybala paced Maumee (3-3) with 17 points.

OTTAWA HILLS 71, WHITEFORD 43

Ryan Reddmann tallied 18 points, Andrew Wolff had 15 and Doug Ely 13 for the Green Bears (2-0), who outscored the visitors 41-23 over the middle two quarters.

Jake Gust scored 18 for the Bobcats (0-2), who committed 19 turnovers to Ottawa Hills' 11.

Redmann added 12 rebounds and Aaron Crooks had posted eight points with eight assists and six steals.

NORTHWOOD 49, STRYKER 45

Northwood scored all 12 of its overtime points on foul shots to beat Stryker (4-3).

Corey Canaday led the Rangers (2-3) with 17 points, followed by Tom Nehring with 13.

Nick Lloyd was the Panthers' top scorer with 20 points. Eli Burkholder added nine points, all on 3-pointers.

SANDUSKY - Jake Fanning poured in 22 points and Jarret Ensign added 16 for the Lakers (6-0), who led 32-18 at the half.

Sean Heath and Nick Felter scored 10 apiece for Sandusky St. Mary, which suffered 22 turnovers to Danbury's 11.

HAMLER - Tyler Rosenberger tossed in 21 points, Joe Nowak added 19, Brennan Lowry had 15 and Brian Perkins 14 for the Wildcats (5-1), who outscored the home team 13-5 at the foul line.

Ajay Meyer tallied 18 and Brendan Haas and Brian Yarnell added 12 and 10, respectively, for the Patriots (0-1).

WAUSEON - Jake Reckner threw in 22 points and Elliott Mealer added 19 for the Indians (5-2), who led 40-26 at the half.

Matt Warner poured in 26 points for the Knights (5-2) and Casey Donald and Trevor Meyers added 15 and 13, respectively.

Wauseon outscored Otsego 22-10 at the free-throw line.

LIBERTY CENTER - Andy Cary poured in 25 points and Layne Schroeder had 15 for the Rams, who prevailed in double overtime.

Kasey Bodenbender tossed in 24 points, Ryan Bonner added 13 and Andrew Quigley had 10 for the Tigers.

MONCLOVA CHRISTIAN 59, MAUMEE VALLEY 56

Derek Merrin poured in 37 points and brought down nine rebounds to lead Monclova Christian to the Monclova Thunder Classic championship.

Matt Velazquez drove for the game-winning basket for the Thunder and Merrin's late free throws iced it as Monclova outscored the Hawks 35-20 in the second half. The Thunder outscored Maumee Valley 14-3 at the foul line.

Tournament MVP Craig Choka and Julian Banks scored 18 points apiece for the visitors.

HORIZON SCIENCE 64, TEMPLE CHRISTIAN 50

Gerald Hart scored 18 points to lead Horizon Science in the Thunder Classic consolation game.

Josh Hughes and Nathan Lee scored 16 and 15, respectively, for Temple, which outscored Horizon 24-11 at the foul line but had half the field goals.

WILLARD 64, FREMONT ROSS 58

FREMONT - Adam Gries (14 points), Fred Shearon (13) and Cory Clayton (12) scored in double figures for the Little Giants (3-4), but it was not enough as the visitors put up a 36-28 edge in the second half.

Jimmy Langhurst poured in 24 for Willard, which outscored Ross 18-4 at the free-throw line.

NORWALK - David Rice tallied 14 points and Derek Sponseller had 11 for Fremont St. Joseph (4-3).

TIFFIN - Aaron Mass posted 24 points and 11 rebounds to lead Tiffin Calvert (6-0), which pulled away with a 21-15 fourth-quarter advantage. Ryan Kommick (18), Jon Graham (12) and Brad Walliser (10) also scored in double figures.

Daryl Neiderhiser scored 18 and Jason Kryling had 15 for the Panthers (2-2).
