Central knocks off unbeaten Wadsworth

MASON, Ohio - Central Catholic whipped previously unbeaten Wadsworth 80-56 in girls basketball yesterday in the Mason Holiday Tournament.

Mallory Strall supplied 16 points and seven rebounds for the Irish (11-0), while Jessica Minnfield and Ellen Herman contributed 14 points apiece and Lisa Scott 12.

Central shot 52 percent from the field, while limiting a strong-shooting Wadsworth team to 40 percent.

Ashley Veal led Wadsworth (8-1) with 20 points.

NOTRE DAME 63,

Patrice Lalor and Cristen Kerscher were the game's only double-digit scorers as they led the Eagles to the one-sided win.

Notre Dame hit 50 percent from the field and outrebounded the Blue Streaks 56-30, with Kerscher grabbing nine and Lalor eight.

FREMONT - Tia Simms led the way for the Little Giants' win with 28 points and 10 rebounds. Alexis Johnson followed with 14 points.

Charlotte Garcia was the only Polar Bear in double figures with 14.

BEREA, Ohio - Anedira Allen scored 15 points and Shareese Ulis added 13 as Clay upped its

record to 9-2 at Baldwin-Wallace College.

PHOENIX - Genesis Lewis scored 18 points and the California team led Eastwood 18-4 after one quarter.

Kim Young led Eastwood (7-4) with 19 points. The Eagles hit just 29 percent from the field and placed fourth in the holiday tournament.
