Girls basketball roundup: Irish suffer first loss

PICKERINGTON, Ohio - Central Catholic, Ohio's No. 1-ranked Division I girls basketball team, suffered its first loss yesterday, 59-39 to Gahanna Lincoln.

Betsy Morrison paced four players in double figures for Gahanna Lincoln (12-2) with 17 points.

Ellen Herman led Central (12-1) with eight.

Gahanna Lincoln pulled away with a 22-10 advantage in the fourth quarter.

START 52, LIMA BATH 33

PICKERINGTON, Ohio - Lisa Hickman scored 19 points for Start (9-2), including 14 in the second half when the Spartans took control.

Sandi Brown added 12 and Keaira Marsenburg and Candice Coleman had 10 each.

BOWSHER 44, AKRON FIRESTONE 41

Bowsher (9-3) overcame a 27-point performance from Tamira Davis with balance as Stephany Johnson scored 11, Lauren Crockett nine and eight Rebels scored.

Akron Firestone drops to 8-4.

NOTRE DAME 51, CLAY 40

Heather Wiczynski scored 19 points, including 5-for-7 shooting from beyond the arc, to pace Notre Dame. Patrice Lalor added 14 points for Notre Dame (11-3, 5-3 City League).

Erika Kayser scored 11 and Kristin Krempa 10 for Clay (1-11, 1-6).

SCOTT 68, FRANKLIN HEIGHTS 35

COLUMBUS - Precious Hands led Scott (6-6) with 16, Shanice Sample added 12 and Miesha Blackshear 10. The Bulldogs took control with a 22-11 second-quarter advantage.

PERRYSBURG 51, ROSSFORD 34

Nicole Parrish scored 12 points and Tiffany Calevro had 11 for Perrysburg (8-6, 5-3 NLL).

Chassidy Tooson scored 14 for visiting Rossford.

ANTHONY WAYNE 45, SPRINGFIELD 30

Kelsey Nagel led the scoring for visiting Anthony Wayne (6-7, 4-4 NLL) with seven points.

Kelley Pohlman paced the Blue Devils (6-5, 3-5) with nine points. Springfield scored just six points in the second half.

SOUTHVIEW 58, BOWLING GREEN 33

BOWLING GREEN - Mandi Lisk totaled 15 points and Liz Tansey 12 for Southview (10-2, 7-1 NLL), which trailed 21-19 at halftime before erupting.

Amanda Kern scored 10 for the Bobcats (5-8, 3-5).

NORTHVIEW 76, MAUMEE 26

Niki McCoy scored 21, Lisa Johnson 17 and Rianna Miller 14 for visiting Northview (12-1, 8-0 NLL). Trisha Krewson paced Maumee (2-10, 0-8) with 10.

OTSEGO 57, GIBSONBURG 52

GIBSONBURG - Erin Limes scored 10 of her 29 points in the fourth quarter for Otsego, which also got 11 from Jennie McVey.

Julie Beaschler scored 14 and Aisha Kaemming and Lindsay Hill had 11 apiece for the Bears.

KANSAS - Stephanie Geisel paced Lake with 12 points. Kahe Dennis had eight for Lakota.

ELMORE - Kim Young poured in 23 points for Eastwood.

Megan Abbey had 12 points and 10 rebounds for Woodmore.

GENOA - Brittany Berry scored 16 and Kristen Keys had 13 for Elmwood (14-0, 9-0).

Mallory Imbery led Genoa with 15 points and 13 rebounds.

Brittany Bogart led visiting Northwood with 20 points. Jessica Ramirez added 16 and Laryn Ziegler had 10.

Kelly Harrington scored 11 for Emmanuel Baptist.

LAKESIDE - Kim Zura paced Danbury with 15 points, including making 10 of 15 foul shots.

Kelsey Netter paced Ottawa Hills with 11 points.

Danbury hit 20 of 37 foul shots to the Green Bears' 7-of-17.

EVERGREEN 71, WOODWARD 31

Kelly Beer scored 22 points, Megan Bates 14, Leah Wilson 11 and Haley Keller 10 for Evergreen, which also got 14 assists from Crystal Skeldon.

Regina Nicholson led Woodward with 14 points.

STRYKER - Molly Boetz scored 14 points to pace Stryker.

Sarah Grime scored 16 and Molly Grime 11 for Archbold.

DELTA - Caela Mohre scored 19 points and Lindsay Word added 10 for Edon, which outscored Delta 26-7 in the fourth quarter..

Karlee Bauman and Martha Simon had 11 apiece for Delta.

DEFIANCE - Erin Garmyn scored 13 and Lisa Squires 11 for Tinora, which earned its first victory in two years.

Danielle Finch had 17 for Montpelier (4-9).
