Prep basketball roundup: Rebels rally in fourth

VAN WERT - Bowsher blasted Van Wert 25-11 in the fourth quarter for a 57-54 victory last night in boys basketball.

Anthony Pettaway scored 13 of his 27 points in the fourth quarter and Ken Hairston hit the winning 3-pointer with 1.9 seconds remaining as part of a 15-point night.

Bowsher improved to 11-7 and Van Wert fell to 13-4.

CLAY 51, NORTHVIEW 49

Wes Taylor connected on two free throws with three seconds left in the game, and Brett McDougle scored 12 points for the visiting Eagles (14-5).

Derek Andrzejcak scored 10 points for Northview.

START 54, ANDERSON 43

Matt Foley scored 17 and Grant Maxey had 12 as Start (10-6) topped the visitors from Southgate, Mich. The Spartans hit 14 of 18 free throws.

MAUMEE 53, WAITE 36

Lamonte Dawson scored 13 points and Maumee (13-5) led 24-12 by halftime. Mack Wortham scored 15 for Waite.

ELIDA - Jason Sarno led Elida (15-3) with 14 points. Dan Amato and Ryan Gast scored 10 apiece for Central (11-7).

TIFFIN - Perrysburg's Scott Perkins scored 18 and Jamie Casey had 11. Robert Kisabeth led Columbian with 10.

Andrew Riley hit seven of nine shots from beyond the arc to lead Anthony Wayne with 21 points. Tony Zacharias added 12 points and 10 rebounds and Brent Papenfuss added 10 points.

PEMBERVILLE - The Blue Devils led by four at the half and at the end of the third quarter before finishing off the Eagles with a 13-9 advantage in the final quarter.

Springfield's Fletcher Noble led all scorers with 16 points. Chris Liber added 10 for the Blue Devils (8-9).

Trent Rahe led Eastwood (8-10) with 14 points.

TONTOGANY - The Tigers made a 15-8 second-quarter advantage hold up.

Andrew Quigley and Eric Wymer did the most damage for Liberty Center (13-5), scoring 16 points apiece, with Wymer tallying nine in the second quarter. Brennan Flory added 10.

Tyler Getz scored 16 for Otsego (12-6), with Jordan Murphy and Trevor Meyers adding 12 and Mark Kidd 10.

FINDLAY - Brook Crawford scored 18 and Nathan Hyde had 16 for Liberty-Benton.

BRYAN - Tyler Holabaugh paced Bryan with 21 points, Jason Keeler had 11 and Tyler Smith and Joe Silva 10 each.

LAKESIDE - Two free throws by Adam Tiell in a second overtime eventually closed out the win for Fostoria St. Wendelin, which handed the Lakers (17-1) their first loss of the season despite 43 points from Jake Fanning.

Jordan Johnson's late 3-pointer for the Mohawks (15-3) extended the game into a second overtime. Tiell finished with 17 points for St. Wendelin.

Kyle Bensch scored 18, Sam Heisman 15 and Blake Powell 10 for Toledo Christian (13-5).

Brad Betz led Swanton (3-16) with 12.

Matt Velazquez scored 18 points and Derek Merrin had 11 for Monclova Christian.

Matt Triggs (12 points) hit four 3-pointers in the fourth quarter for the Rangers (4-16), who outscored the visitors 19-12 to draw close.

Ottawa Hills led 24-21 at halftime, but Lake came back with an 18-8 advantage in the third quarter.

Emily Cellier scored 20 points, and forced overtime with a basket with 23 seconds left in regulation. Tammi Duvall added 11 and Jill Whitlow 10 for visiting Toledo Christian.

Alexis Holman had 22 points and 23 rebounds for Maumee Valley.

DELTA - Kelley Beer scored 13 and Crystal Skeldon had 12 for Evergreen (11-9). Lauren Ruple led Delta (5-15) with 13.
