Calvert captures 6th MAL title in 7 years

TIFFIN - Josh Graham threw in 20 points and Aaron Mass added 16 and 12 rebounds as Tiffin Calvert wrapped up its sixth Midland Athletic League title in seven years with a 68-54 victory over Fremont St. Joseph.

Ryan Kommick contributed 12 points and Brad Walliser had 11 for the Senecas (15-4, 9-1), who outscored the Streaks 40-26 in the second half.

David Rice and kevin Wammes tallied 17 points apiece for St. Joe (12-8, 6-4).

MOHAWK 59, ST. WENDELIN 56

FOSTORIA - Kaleb Faber threw in 23 points and Mohawk (10-10, 6-4) - buoyed by a 21-10 third quarter - denied the home team a share of the MAL crown. Sam Boehnlein scored 27 points for St. Wendelin (16-4, 8-2).

NAPOLEON 69, HARDING 61

MARION - Larry Ward scored 16 points and Chad Damman and Jeremy Davis added 14 each for the Wildcats (8-11, 4-6 GBC), who outscored the home team 45-36 in the second half.

DEFIANCE 70, WAPAKONETA 69

DEFIANCE - A 13-of-13 performance at the free throw line in the fourth quarter lifted the Bulldogs (8-12, 4-5 WBL), who got 23 points from Graham Wagner and 19 from Nate Ripke.

PORT CLINTON 71, ST. MARY 63

SANDUSKY - Jason Cellier scored 19 points and Justin Francis and Logan Meisler added 10 each for the Redskins, who outscored the Panthers 22-17 in the fourth quarter. Nick Felter tossed in 26 for St. Mary.

CLYDE 52, PERKINS 49

SANDUSKY - Nick Tea and Ryan Hackenburg tallied 15 points apiece for the Fliers, who built a 38-29 halftime lead.

TIFFIN - Jon Diebler (26 points), Jacob Diebler (21) and Greg Micheli (21) led the Rams (19-0, 14-0 NOL). John Ducsay scored 19 for the Tornadoes.

HURON 56, OAK HARBOR 46

OAK HARBOR - Jared Lizzi, Brandon Jakubcin and Bob Isphording each put up 13 points as the Tigers (14-5) slipped past the Rockets (7-13).

Justin Tank led Oak Harbor with 18 points. Doug Byrne added 12. Twenty-four of Oak Harbor's points came on 3-point shots.

PETTISVILLE 50, FAYETTE 36

FAYETTE - Justin Rufenacht and Braydon Meck tallied 16 and 15 points, respectively, for the Blackbirds (19-1, 9-1), who wrapped up a Buckeye Border Conference championship share with Stryker.

Gahlon Kunkle scored 15 and Tyler Rupp had 11 for the Eagles.

STRYKER 57, HILLTOP 41

WEST UNITY - Nick Lloyd and Jacob Bernath scored 22 and 21 points, respectively, and the Panthers (13-7, 9-1) jumped to an 18-7 first-quarter lead en route to earning a BBC title share.

Jonathan Stuckey scored 12 and Jeremy Cash had 10 for the Cadets.

TEMPERANCE, Mich. - Jimmy Simpson scored 19 points and Brett Sergent added 17 for Bedford. Sergent made 7 of 8 free throws to keep the Hornets at bay in the fourth quarter.

WHITEFORD 75, DEERFIELD 49

OTTAWA LAKE, Mich. - Jeremy Green scored 17 points to lead four double-figure scorers for the Bobcats.

Ken Donley, Mitch Frazier and Joe Cruz added 10 apiece for Whiteford (7-11, 7-7 TCC), which led 40-19 at the half.

Adam Diver led the Minutemen (0-15, 0-12) with 12.

ERIE MASON 55, BLISSFIELD 50

BLISSFIELD, Mich. - Aaron Roelfs scored 17 points and Justin Parran added 12 for the Eagles (8-10, 4-7 LCAA).

Rob Bolster tallied 15 points, Will Faulkner had 12 and Lance Nine 10 for the Royals.

ST. MARY CC 66, AIRPORT 48

MONROE, Mich. - Matt Liedel hit eight 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 27 points to lead St. Mary CC.

Liedel also grabbed six rebounds and dished out eight assists. Nick Jordan added 15 points for the Falcons.

SAND CREEK, Mich. - David Hamden's 3-pointer at the buzzer won the game for the Bulldogs in overtime. Brad Laking scored 18 points, Brandon Medlin had 12 and Hamden 11.

Cole Bice's trey forced overtime for the Aggies, who got 16 points from Rusty Richards.
