Girls basketball roundup: Central, Notre Dame earn wins

Central Catholic defeated Scott 60-44 and Notre Dame edged Bowsher 41-40 last night in a Division I girls basketball sectional final doubleheader at Clay.

Notre Dame won when Becca Smith hit a foul shot with one second remaining in the game.

Patrice Lalor led Notre Dame (17-4) with 18 points and Mallory Meyers added 10.

Bowsher (14-5) got 16 points from Stephany Johnson.

Central (17-3) got 16 from Jessica Minnfield and 11 from Lisa Scott.

The Irish hit 25 of 37 foul shots to Scott's 11 of 17.

Myeshia Blackshear led the Bulkldogs (10-8) with 14 and Shanice Sample had 12.

ANTHONY WAYNE 44, PERRYSBURG 41

VAN BUREN - Jorolyn Sadowski scored 10 points, Kelsey Bagel added nine and Anthony Wayne outscored Perrysburg 12-4 in the fourth quarter.

Nicole Parrish led Perrysburg with 13 and Tiffany Calevro had 10.

FINDLAY 50, BOWLING GREEN 38

VAN BUREN - Carlee Roethlisberger scored 18 points and Findlay outscored Bowling Green 22-11 in the middle quarters.

Rebecca Peters paced the Bobcats with nine points.

DEFIANCE 51, EASTWOOD 35

SWANTON - Dee Dee Hillman led Defiance with 18 points, including nine in the first quarter. Kim Young and Lynsey McIntire scored 12 apiece for Eastwood.

NAPOLEON 49, BRYAN 35

SWANTON - Amberly Conklin scored 13, Kristen Gilgenbach added 11 and Napoleon outscored Bryan 31-19 in the second half. Megan Scmultz led Bryan with nine.

SWANTON 51, EVERGREEN 41

LIBERTY CENTER - Swanton (18-3) won its 15th straight game with four players in double figures as Tarah Dominique and Tiffany Wilson scored 14 apiece, Chelsea White had 11 and Abby LaVigne 10.

Kelly Beer led Evergreen (12-10) with 12 points.

Swanton hit 75 percent from the field in the first half and outrebounded Evergreen 32-19 for the game.

ARCHBOLD 47, OTSEGO 43

LIBERTY CENTER - Alexa Kennedy led Archbold (12-10) with 18 and Sarah Grime added 11. Jennie McVey scored 18 and Erin Limes had 12 for Otsego (16-5).

STRITCH 55, WOODMORE 42

PEMBERVILLE - Kelcee Evans scored 18 points, including 10 of 11 from the foul line where Stritch connected on 25 of 35 attempts. Nicole Bergman added 13 points and Brittany Barrera 11 at Eastwood High.

Megan Abbey led Woodmore with 16.

The Wildcats hit 9 of 16 from the line.

ELMWOOD 72, LAKOTA 32

PEMBERVILLE - Elmwood romped at Eastwood as Kelly Wagner scored 15, Kristen Keys 13, Brooke Morgart and Brittany Berry 12 each and Amber Morgart 11. Katie Dennis led Lakota with nine.

PATRICK HENRY 57, CAREY 36

FINDLAY - Amanda Coressel scored 15, Alison Meyer had 12 and the Patriots improved to 20-1.

GIBSONBURG 54, NORTHWOOD 51

BOWLING GREEN - Julie Beaschler scored 25 points to pace Gibsonburg, which hit 15 of 21 foul shots.

Brittany Bogart and Laryn Ziegler scored 15 apiece for Northwood, which went 8 of 15 from the line.

Jessica Ramirez added 12 for the Rangers.

LIBERTY CENTER 62, TOLEDO CHRISTIAN 45

BOWLING GREEN - Denise Matheny led Liberty Center with 20, Kristen McEwen added 15 and Laura Langenhop 10.

Emily Cellier scored 23 for Toledo Christian.

ST. JOSEPH 70, OLD FORT 32

TIFFIN - Becky Babione scored 25 and Katy Hasselbach added 20 for Fremont St. Joe (20-1) at Columbian.

EMMANUEL BAPTIST 54, MEDINA CHRISTIAN 45

Kelly Harrington scored 28 as Emmanuel Baptist advanced in the ASCI tournament.
