The first Blade high school football poll of the 2005 season is out and only one of last year's divisional poll champions remains at the top.

That team is coach Bill Inselmann's powerhouse Patrick Henry Patriots, who are No. 1 in Division V. The Pats were 13-1 in '04, reaching the state playoff semifinals, and the All-

Ohio quarterback-receiver duo of Zack George and Marc Krauss are leading an offense that is

averaging 46 points per game.

In Division I, the Titans of St. John's Jesuit coach Doug Pearson and their new spread-option offensive scheme have rolled to a 3-0 start and top ranking.

Tiffin Columbian did not win the Division II Blade title last season, but did prove to be the area's best D-II team come playoff time. Even with a loss to D-III No. 1 Clyde, coach Steve Gilbert's Tornadoes are No. 1 until someone proves otherwise.

In Division IV, preseason Suburban Lakes League favorite Otsego has lived up to its lofty reputation so far in outscoring three foes 122-14.

Coach Pete Brunow's Hardin Northern Polar Bears won the Division VI state playoff championship. Showing no signs of having weakened, the Polar Bears start off 2005 at No. 1.
