Ware leads Titans to home football win; Central tops Libbey

DeAndre Ware ran for 245 yards on 19 carries and scored on runs of 1, 55 and 2 yards to lead St. John's Jesuit to a 56-13 win over Waite in the Titans' first-ever football game on campus.

St. John's (6-0, 3-0 City League) ran for 378 yards and added 81 through the air, including Sean Patterson's 35-yard scoring strike to Jake Bombrys. Patterson also scored on an eight-yard run.

Other scores came on a fumble recovery by Zack Reiner, a six-yard run by Nick Cherry and a 60-yard run by David Lewinski.

Howie LaCourse tossed a pair of TD passes for Waite (2-4, 1-2).

The Indians ran for 126 yards and added 159 passing.

Central 31, Libbey 7

Central Catholic (5-2, 3-0 City) outgained the Cowboys 311 yards to 54 on the ground as Chris Willis gained 129 yards on 14 carries and scored two touchdowns.

Greg Hammond added 66 yards and another score for Central while quarterback Kevin Jansen completed 8 of 12 passes for 101 yards.

Tom McGranahan scored for Libbey (0-6, 0-3) on a one-yard plunge.
