NLL: Kleeberger propels Rossford

Tyler Kleeberger threw for two touchdowns and ran for another as Rossford defeated visiting Bowling Green 20-14 to grab a share of the Northern Lakes League football lead last night.

Kleeberger connected on 13 of 21 passes for 222 yards and two touchdowns, a 53-yard hookup with Ryan Wiegand in the second quarter and a six-yarder to Jason Duly for the eventual game-winner with 3:39 to play in the third. He also scored on a 25-yard run as the Bulldogs (6-2, 4-1) led 13-0 at the half.

Zach Ackenberger scored on a five-yard run and Eric Blasiman on a 15-yard dash for the Bobcats (3-5, 2-3), who gained 255 yards on the ground and 68 through the air.

Ackenberger led Bowling Green with 28 rushes for 122 yards, while Blasiman added 115 on eight totes.

Kurt Keller rushed 13 times for 62 yards for Rossford, which ran for 103 yards.

Anthony Wayne 31, Perrysburg 7

The visiting Generals (4-4, 2-3) outgained Perrysburg (2-6, 2-3) 304 yards to 134 on the ground.

Andy Whawell led the charge by racking up 113 yards on 13 carries and running in for 54 and 16-yard scores. Nate Sherman added two more touchdowns on a 14-yard run and a 26-yard pass from quarterback Alex Keyer. Keyer was 11-of-14 for 152 yards.

Perrysburg quarterback Ore Fatinikun scored the lone touchdown for the Yellow Jackets on a 24-yard scamper.

Springfield 40,

Maumee 20

Montral Hayes rushed for 157 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Blue Devils to their first NLL win of the season.

Rick Isby racked up 132 yards for Springfield as it compiled 392 yards on the ground.

Matt Dennis also returned an interception 74 yards for a score.

Maumee quarterback Joe Jakacki threw for 193 yards with a nine-yard touchdown pass to Omega Roberts.

Jakacki and Ray Parry each ran for a touchdown.
