Girls basketball roundup: Northview edges Rebels; Cougars win

Riana Miller scored a game-high 24 points as Northview edged visiting Bowsher 52-51 last night in girls basketball.

The Rebels rallied after trailing for three quarters, making it a one-point game with 34 seconds left, but could not make the decisive basket.

Lisa Johnson contributed 18 and 13 rebounds for the Wildcats.

Stephanie Johnson paced Bowsher with 18 points. Tiara Roberts added 11.

SOUTHVIEW 47, START 42

Liz Tansey scored 23 points and the Cougars sank seven of nine free throws in the fourth quarter to escape with the win and remain undefeated.

Southview (10-0) made 14 of 23 at the line for the game, compared to visiting Start's 5 of 11.

Keaira Marsenburg scored 17 points and and Tiara Arnold added 10 for the Spartans (7-3), who tied the game at 38 with three minutes left.

ST. URSULA 56, MAGNIFICAT 53

ROCKY RIVER, Ohio - A 35-24 edge in the second half pushed St. Ursula past Rocky River Magnificat as Allison Florian scored 20 points, Alison Schloz 12 and Joan Anderson 11. The Arrows (4-6) made 8 of 12 free throws in the final quarter, with Schloz scoring 8 of her 12 points in the period.

Dana Vinci registered 16 points for Magnificat (7-4).

NOTRE DAME 50, WESTLAND 9

COLUMBUS - Mallory Myers scored 11 points to lead 11 Eagles in the scoring column for Notre Dame (7-3), which led 24-7 at the half.

Megan Chaney paced Westland (0-9) with three.

WOODMORE 43, ELMWOOD 39

BLOOMDALE - Sarah Hernandez threw in 18 points for the Wildcats, who made 6 of 12 3-point attempts while the Royals made good on just 2 of 13.

Brittany Perkins added 11 points for Woodmore, which outscored Elmwood 16-7 in the fourth quarter.

Terri Cline paced the Royals with 10 points.

GENOA 56, GIBSONBURG 48

GIBSONBURG - Simone Eli paced the Comets (5-5, 3-2 SLL) with 18 points. Abbey Kontak added 14. Brittany Darling had 10 points 10 rebounds.

Ann Clark led the Golden Bears (6-3, 3-2) with 15. Meghan Widmer had 11 and Lindsay Hill 10.

LAKOTA 55, OTSEGO 36

TONTOGANY - Morgan Podach recorded a game-high 15 points to lead the Raiders, who outscored the Knights 17-4 in the fourth quarter to pull away.

Emily Schwab scored 11 points for Otsego.

EASTWOOD 77, LAKE 42

MILLBURY - Kim Young poured in 19 points to pace the Eagles, who outscored the Flyers 65-33 in the final three quarters.

Danielle Thornton (12), Lynsey McIntire (11), and Amanda Haws (10) also reached double figures for Eastwood, which hit 13 3-pointers to Lake's none.

Sara Recny tallied 12 points and Joylette Daniels and Jennifer LaPlante added 10 points apiece for Lake.

ARCHBOLD 61, BOWLING GREEN 36

ARCHBOLD - Tara Gustwiller threw in 16 points and Molly Grime added 15 for the Blue Streaks (9-1), who pulled away in the second half by outscoring the Bobcats 30-14.

Rebekah Peters paced Bowling Green (0-9) with 11 points. Emily Carle pulled down 13 rebounds.

Archbold shot better - making 21 of 49 field goal tries to BG's 13 of 46 - and committed nine turnovers while the Bobcats had 23.

FINDLAY 56, FREMONT ROSS 32

FINDLAY - Carlee Roethlisberger put in five of her game-high 20 points in the first quarter as the Trojans (7-2, 5-0 GBC) leapt to a 13-2 advantage.

Brittney Miller led the Little Giants (2-8, 0-5) with nine.

PATRICK HENRY 60, VAN BUREN 47

VAN BUREN - Haley Badenhop scored 17 and Jenna Inselmann added 11 to lead the Patriots (9-0), who exploded out of the gate with a 27-9 advantage after the first quarter and held off Van Buren's late charge.
