Girls basketball: Scott rallies to beat Bowsher

Scott pulled away in the fourth quarter to defeat visiting Bowsher 55-48 last night in girls basketball.

The Bulldogs trailed 41-40 after three quarters before outscoring the Rebels 15-7 in the final period.

Scott (12-3 overall, 9-0 City League) was led by Precious Hands with 13 points. But she had plenty of support from Miesha Blackshear, Kenyatta Davis and Shanice Sample, each of whom scored nine points, and Regina Nicholson, who added eight points.

Stephany Johnson registered 18 points for Bowsher (9-8, 6-3), including 11 free throws. Tiara Roberts added 12 for the Rebels.

ST. URSULA 64,

ROGERS 29

Twelve players scored for the Arrows in an easy victory over the Rams.

Allison Florian led the way for St. Ursula (8-7, 5-4) with 20 points.

Tiara Brown topped Rogers (2-13, 0-9) with 12 points.

START 65, CLAY 34

K.K. Marsenberg scored a game-high 17 points and T.T. Arnold recorded 16, as Start knocked off Clay.

Lisa Hickman dropped in 14 and Arielle Gary added 10 for the Spartans.

Start used a 21-6 run in the fourth quarter to pull away from the Eagles.

Mollie Berry scored nine points for Clay in the losing effort.

CENTRAL CATHOLIC 54,

WHITMER 30

Central Catholic pressured Whitmer into 25 turnovers and coupled with the Panthers' low-scoring first and third quarters, won rather easily,

Central, 7-2 in the City League, committed only nine turnovers and got 12 points from Brianna Jones and 10 from Sharise Calhoun.

Katie Lord led the 3-6 Panthers with eight points.

LIBBEY 36,

WOODWARD 25

Kadyia Gregory scored 16 points to lead the visiting Cowboys (2-10, 1-8 City), who led 16-8 at the half and outscored the Polar Bears 11-1 at the free throw line.

Pariss King and Marissa Rentz tallied eight each for Woodward (0-14, 0-9).

EASTWOOD 55,

BOWLING GREEN 41

Lynsey McIntire scored 13 and Kim Young added 12 to lead Eastwood (10-3) over Bowling Green (0-13).

The Eagles knocked down eight 3-pointers.

Bowling Green was paced by Jill Stechschulte and Rebekah Peters, who scored 13 and 11, respectively.

Despite the loss Bowling Green outrebounded Eastwood 50-30.
