District gymnastics: Yellow Jackets, Patriots qualify for state meet

VAN BUREN, Ohio - Perrysburg and Patrick Henry advanced to the state gymnastics meet by finishing first and second, respectively, at yesterday's district meet.

Perrysburg had 135.45 points . Patrick Henry edged third-place Findlay 131.975-131.875. Central Catholic was fourth and Whitmer fifth.

The top seven finishers in each individual event also advanced to the state meet, which takes place Friday and Saturday at Hilliard Darby High School.

Ashley Grant of Springfield won the all-around title and was the only athlete to qualify in each of the four apparatus - vault, balance beam, uneven parallel bars and floor exercise.

Whitmer's Mandi Fought won the vault (9.025) and also qualified in the bars, beam and all-around.

Findlay's Stephanie Linhart was the beam champion (9.125) and also advanced in the bars, floor and all-around.

Perrysburg's Macy Nordhaus advanced in the vault, beam, floor and all-around. Her teammate Maggie Overholt finished in the top five in the vault, bars, floor and all-around.

Megan Wojtkowski of Central Catholic qualified in the vault, beam and all-around.

Southview's Olivia Krawczyk won the bars (8.825).

Brooke Bostleman of Napoleon won the floor exercise (8.85).
