Division II wrestling: Eastwood wins team title; Clyde has 4 champs

ONTARIO, Ohio - Clyde won the individual battles, but Eastwood won the war at the Division II district wrestling meet hosted by Ontario.

The Fliers had four individual champions but finished second to the Eagles in the team standings. Eastwood, which had two champs in Adam Tinnel at 112 pounds and Kyle Taylor at 130, finished with 228.5 points to Clyde's 164.

Tinnel earned the 112-pound crown with a 17-4 major decision over Josh Cisco of St. Marys Memorial, while Taylor claimed a 3-0 decision over Rick Pusateri of Sandusky Perkins .

The Eagles had four runners-up - Jan Ulinski at 119, Ryan Cubberly at 135, Kurt Shroyer at 152 and Jeremy Foster at 171 - and four more third-place finishes in qualifying 11 wrestlers for next week's state tournament.

Clyde's four individual crowns came from Robbie Michaels, who beat Oak Harbor's Kirk Tank at 145; Thomas Schwartz, who decisioned Shroyer 6-1 at 152; Eric Schwartz, whose 2-1 double-overtime win over Willard's Jarrid Rodriguez gave him the title at 215, and defending state champ Matt Guhn, who pinned Donald Belford of Olmsted Falls in 1:38 to win at 275.

Other local titlists include Wauseon's Roly Corpus, who beat Bart Young of Medina Highland 5-3 in overtime for the 103-pound crown, while Rossford's Jeremy Espinoza decisioned Parma Heights Holy Name's Aaron Sulzer 4-2 to take top honors at 125.

Cody Magrum of Oak Harbor was a 7-5 winner over Eastwood's Foster to finish first at 171 pounds.
