McKart tops Monroe card

2/20/2007

MONROE - Bronco McKart, a former WBO light middleweight champion, is set to headline an eight bout pro-am boxing card Saturday at Monroe High School.

McKart (48-7, 31 KOs) will meet Ted Muller (19-9-2) of Moline, Ill., in an eight-round middleweight bout.

The Monroe native is looking to rebound from a setback in July at the quick hands of Youngstown's NABF middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik.

McKart was stopped in the sixth round of a scheduled 12-round fight by way of technical knockout by Pavlik. It was the first time in his professional career he lost by a TKO.

Monroe's Ryan "Bam-Bam" Wilburn is scheduled to make his pro debut when he takes on Owosso's Jason Bowen in a four-round junior middleweight fight. Detroit's Sean Purdy (2-2) will face Owosso's Jim Hall (3-2) in another pro bout.

Five amateur fights are on tap for the card set to start at 7:30. Doors open at 6.

Tickets, which are $20 for floor seats and $10 for general admission, are still available and can be purchased at the door.
